Project "First Missionary Journey of Apostle Paul. Minor Asia."

On the map you can see the part of First Missionary Journey of Apostle Paul lying in Turkey. Two main routes are intended:

1. Old harbor in Antalya Old City. It was a final point of 1st Missionary Journey, a place that Paul departed from. There the time stopped and everything remains as at his times: a little bay with a harbor, sails, high ancient wall, multilingual talks… Next point is Perge where Paul preached the Gospel. In this city John Mark saw or realized something that caused him to leave the missionary field for a long time and to run home. It’s a place of rather spacious and picturesque ruins where an interested person can find a lot of food for thoughts and occasions for personal researches. A very special feeling overcomes you when you think about the fact that you are stepping on the very same stones that Apostle Paul stepped and are looking at the same things he did. Motivations of his thoughts and deeds start becoming more obvious…

2. Futher on, far inland, to Pisidian Antioch, Iconium, Lystra and Derbe. You can find yourself (it’s not quite excavated) the synagogue in Antioch where Paul said that he turns back from Jews and goes to Gentiles, the place in Lystra where Paul was stoned, look at the country where Timothy grew up etc. There we have a wide field of action because Turkish authorities are not interested in Christian places and foreigners this far from coast are few.

For the present time only the first route has been developed.

Excursion “Attalia harbor – Perge” (one day). During the excursion you will have the lecture on the country and city history, probable scenario of the biblical story, description of the ruins, my own observations. Plus free time in order to make your own discoveries.
Service includes two places visited, lecture, abundant food and prepaid entrance to the territory. Prices are discussable.

If your hotel is not situating in Antalya then driving you there and back will cost extra, depending on the distance.

Weather here is sunny 350 days a year, it rains at most 2 days in a row, and temperature is rarely lower +12 C (+54 F).
